Chairman of Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Sunday that the Saudi government perpetrated crime of aggression on Yemen, the manifest breach of Rome Statute 1998 which brings accountability before the International Criminal Court [ICC].

Speaking in a meeting with local officials in Iran, Boroujerdi described the security situation in regional Muslim countries as critical.

Saudi-led air strikes on Sunday killed 30 civilians in an attack on a market in northern Yemen.

Iran has called on The Hague-based ICC to bring to justice the Saudi Air Force commander for the crimes against humanity perpetrated in Yemen upon his order to the Saudi pilots.

The Saudi government says its indiscriminate bombardment of Yemen aims to restore power to Yemen’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who is a close ally of the kingdom.

A Saudi-led coalition, backed by the United States, has been attacking Yemen since March. The airstrikes have not been authorized by the UN.

The Saudi attacks have killed more than 2,600 people and injured at least 11,000 since the US-led Saudi military aggression began against Yemen on March 26, according to United Nations [UN] records.
