U.S. drone strikes in Yemen have become more frequent in recent weeks, with at least six reported by Reuters last month.

The previous US administration regularly used drones strikes, which led to the death of hundreds of Yemeni civilians. Human rights groups have criticized Washington for its tactics.

Marib is one of several regions where Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and its local affiliate, Ansar al-Sharia, have been able to expand their presence since the start of the Saudi-led bombardment of Yemen in March 2015.

terrorists are being used as a ground force in Riyadh’s battle against the Yemeni army and the Houthi Ansarullah movement, fighting alongside militias loyal to the ousted Hadi regime.
