The governor of Yemen’s Hodeidah met with officials from UN humanitarian agencies to discuss efforts aimed at improving the dire situation in the province.

The meeting comes as the Saudi-led coalition and their mercenaries on the ground mount a fierce offensive in the hope of capturing Yemen’s southwestern coastline. The area which includes the Hodeidah port is vital for the delivery of aid to the already starving Yemeni population.

Hassan al-Heej called on the UN agencies to coordinate their efforts with the local authorities so as to guarantee the implementation of humanitarian projects.

For their part, representatives of the aid agencies described the deteriorating conditions in which their staff are operating.
