The Military Industry Unit of the Yemeni Army revealed on Tuesday a new Asif-1 (Typhoon-1) missile, which is a short-range missile.

Yemeni soldiers and their allies fired three short-range Asif-1 missiles toward Rajla military base in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern border region of Najran, located about 844 kilometers (524 miles) south of the capital, Riyadh, on Tuesday evening, Arabic-language Ansarullah website reported.

There were no immediate reports on casualty numbers in the attack.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 12,000 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
