At least eight Saudi-paid mercenaries were killed and five others wounded in a rocket attack that targeted their gathering in al-Ghail district of Jawf province, a military official told the state-run news agency Saba on Friday.

The mercenaries were targeted with a missile of 141 type, which hit its target, killing eight and injuring five others.

The artillery of the army and popular forces pounded the mercenaries’ locations in Waqaz area in al-Maslob district, achieving direct hits.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 11,403 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
