At least 15 civilians, including women and children, were killed and several others injured when Saudi fighter jets launched a fresh round of airstrikes against various areas in Yemen on Monday.

Saudi military aircraft conducted attacks against a residential area in Sarwah district of Yemen’s central province of Ma’rib, situated approximately 120 kilometers [74 miles] east of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, on Monday.

Nine members of a family lost their lives and three others sustained injuries, the Arabic-language al-Masirah satellite television network reported.

Six civilians, among them two women and three children, were also killed as Saudi warplanes struck Shibam Kawkaban district in the western Yemeni province of al-Mahwit, situated 53 kilometers [29 miles] northwest of of Sana’a.

Additionally, Saudi jets carried out more than twenty aerial attacks against Sahar and Majz districts of Yemen’s northwestern province of Sa’ada. There were no immediate reports of casualties and the extent of damage inflicted.

Based on UN estimates, over 2,600, mostly civilians, have been killed and another 9,755 wounded as a result of the ongoing attacks on Yemen since March.

A Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States has been carrying out deadly airstrikes in Yemen since March 26- without a UN mandate.

The US-led Saudi military aggression began in an attempt to bring the fugitive former Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who is a close ally of Saudi Arabia, back to power, and to weaken the Houthi Ansarullah movement which is currently responding to the Saudi attacks on the impoverished country.
