Well informed sources from Cairo told the International Agency for Journalism and Strategic Studies AIJES that Dr. Ali Eddin Helal the former Egyptian minister of youth and sport has communicated with a number of Arab political and human rights activists in order to establish an Arab civil committee that aims to support and enhance dialogue for peace and development in Yemen.
According to the source, a group of Arab activists from Algeria, Mauritania, Yemen, Egypt and Sudan had responded to the initiative of Dr. Helal expressing their willingness to work and cooperation in the framework of supporting the UN, international and regional efforts to enhance the dialogue for peace and development in Yemen.
So far, the Egyptian politician Dr. Helal continues to exert efforts to expand the participation of Arab activists, civil society leaders and experts to work together to establish the Arab committee for supporting peace in Yemen which is the first of its kind since the war began in Yemen in early 2015.
The initiative of Egyptian, politician and academic Dr.Helal comes within the framework of activating the role of Arab civil society to achieve peace and development in Yemen and contributing to stop the suffering of the Yemeni people from the scourge of war and to support the international efforts and initiatives to end the war and return constitutional legality back to the country.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Helal, is a professor of political science at Cairo University and he has served as Minister of Youth and sports in Egypt during the years 1999 to 2004.
Dr. Helal was elected president of the Arab Society of Political Science in 2004 while he contributed effectively alongside with the late Dr. Abdul-Karim al-Iryani, former prime minister of Yemen in the establishment of the Arab Association for Democracy headed by Al-Aryani in 2007, along with a distinguished group of Arab political and human rights elites.
