Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hisham Sharaf condemned a Sunday terrorist attack on a Mosque in Quebec City of Canada.

"Terrorism does not differentiate between one country and another and it represents one of the most serious threats to the international peace and security," he said in a statement to the state-run news agency Saba.

"Terrorist acts cannot be stopped by security and military measures only, we have to eliminate the origin of terrorism and its supporters and."

The minister called on the international community to unite and cooperate to combat terrorism and extremism, stressing on the importance to bring the perpetrators, organizers, financiers and supporters of terrorism to justice.

Sharaf expressed the Yemeni people and government's condolences to the government and people of Canada and to the families of the victims, wishing speedy recovery to the injured.

On Sunday night, gunmen opened fire in a mosque in the city of Quebec, killing six people and wounding eight others.

At a news conference early Monday the police confirmed that two suspects had been arrested.

The attack shook Canada, a country where mass shootings are uncommon, and came as the country has become known as a beacon for refugees fleeing warfare and terrorism in Muslim-majority nations.
