A member of the political bureau of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement, Mohammad al-Bakhiti, stressed on Wednesday that the movement is committed to seeking a peace agreement.

"The balance of power inside Yemen is in favor of Ansarullah, but we emphasize the need for a peace agreement... and would stay committed to it," al-Bakhiti told al-Mayadeen TV Channel on Wednesday.

He went on to say that Ansarullah has never sought monopoly in decision-making in Yemen and is looking for a fair participation in power.

He further deplored Saudi Arabia for causing the ongoing crisis in Yemen, adding that the current troubles in Yemen originated from beyond Yemeni borders.

"The main problem is related to Saudi Arabia [’s military intervention] and the money it pays to its hireling groups in Yemen," he said.

Recently on Monday, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon launched negotiations in Switzerland’s city, Geneva, with an appeal for a two-week humanitarian truce during the holy month of Ramadan.

The peace talks ended in Geneva with no agreement, but the United Nations [UN] said it was still optimistic a ceasefire could be reached "pretty soon".

A Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States has been carrying out airstrikes against Yemen since March-without a UN mandate.

Ansarullah revolutionaries have been responding to the violent US-led Saudi aggression on Yemen which began in March.

UN estimates say that over 2,600 people, mostly civilians, have been killed and another 9,755 wounded as a result of the ongoing attacks on Yemen.

The US-led Saudi military aggression against Yemen began on March 26 - without a UN mandate - in an attempt to bring the fugitive former Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who is a close ally of Saudi Arabia, back to power, and to weaken the Houthi Ansarullah movement.
