The United Nations Political Affairs Office has asked permission from the Yemeni Foreign Ministry to allow its UN Special Envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed to visit the capital Sana'a, Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf told the state-run news agency Saba.

"We have asked the program of Ould Cheikh's visit and the agenda that he would put on the table for discussion," minister Sharaf said in remarks made late on Wednesday.

"We are waiting for Ould Cheikh to provide us with his visit program, the agenda and all the other new issues that would accelerate the peaceful political settlement," Sharaf said.

Sharaf reaffirmed that the Supreme Political Council and the government are committed to providing all necessary help and facilities to the UN special envoy's mission. He added that the foreign ministry will exert all efforts to facilitate Ould Cheikh's task.
