The Yemeni ambassador to Syria Naif al-Qanes met with the adviser to the International Criminal Court (ICC) Mohamed Bakar.

During the meeting, which took place on Wednesday, Bakar presented the legal file of crimes against humanity committed by the Saudi aggression against the Yemeni people since the aggression began in March 2015, to sue the Saudi regime and its allies.

The file was previously submitted to the ICC.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 11,400 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
