Army Foils Mercenaries’ Attack on Jawf

Dozens of mercenaries were killed and wounded when the Yemeni army and popular forces foiled a mercenary attack on al-Maslub district of Jawf province, a security official said on Thursday.

The attempt was in Wakaz area on Wednesday when the mercenaries waged an attack against the army and popular forces` sites.

A number of Saudi-paid mercenaries were killed and injured.

In the same time, the Saudi-led coalition fighter jets launched two air raids on Malh area in the same district.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 11,400 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
