At least 25 Saudi-backed mercenaries were killed in what is being described, as a unique operation carried out by the Yemeni army and popular forces in Taiz provinces. A top commander was reportedly among the militants killed.

The operation took place on Tuesday when the army and popular forces regained several areas from the mercenaries, killing and injuring scores of their fighters.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni army and popular forces also fired rockets at foreign-backed groups in the al-Dhabab region. The projectiles reportedly struck their targets but there were no immediate reports of casualties.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
