Several Saudi-backed fighters were killed this morning after the Houthi Ansarullah forces, alongside the Yemeni Republican Guard, carried out a successful assault inside Taiz City.

"More than 25 Saudi-American Coalition militants were killed by the Yemeni Army and local committees in Taiz today," Yemen-based Al-Masirah TV reported this morning.

In addition to the attack inside the city, the Houthi forces also attacked the Saudi-backed Hadi loyalists inside the Al-’Areesh Valley of ’Azifirah, killing and wounding a dozen militants.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 11,400 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
