Coalition Warplanes Strike Yemeni Capital

The Saudi-led coalition warplanes struck the Yemeni capital Sana’a on Monday, residents said, as a two-day ceasefire that was marred by heavy fighting entered its final hours.

The raids hit the 40th Street in Sawan quarter of Azal district east of the capital, and the force of the explosions shook buildings as it rippled through several city neighborhoods, they said.

The strikes damaged several houses as well as other private and public properties.

Saudi Arabia has come under international opprobrium for the sheer size of the casualties from the war it is leading since March 2015 to crush the Houthi Ansarullah movement and bring back the former Yemeni government to power.

The offensive has so far killed 11,400 amid countless reports suggesting deliberate and indiscriminate targeting of civilian infrastructure by Saudi jets and mercenaries.
