A total of six Saudi-paid aggression mercenaries were killed and nine others wounded when the national army and popular forces secured several military sites in Usylan district of Shabwah province, a military official said on Monday.

The operation took places on Sunday when the Yemeni army and popular forces recaptured and secured the sites in Ban Lahjan and Al Khazan sites after fierce clashes that eventually defeated the mercenaries.

Meanwhile, the aggression fighter jets launched five air raids on the same sites and district following the operation, in a botched attempt to encourage their troop.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 10,000 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
