Alleged Missile Attack on Mecca ’Fabrication and Lie’

The Secretary General of the Lebanese Resistance movement Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, stressed that the Saudis are lying about the Yemeni army bombing the holy city of Mecca.

In a speech on Friday, Sayyed Nasrallah affirmed that the attack did not take place, adding that there is no evidence backing Saudi Arabia’s false claims.

The Secretary General pointed out that the Yemeni people are a Muslim nation, and it is shameful and scandalous to accuse them of such doings.

Nasrallah said that Saudi Arabia’s announcement that the Yemeni army targeted Mecca is "a fabrication and a lie".

On October 27, the Yemeni army fired a Borkan-1 [Volcano-1] missile towards King Abdulaziz International Airport, located 19 kilometers north of the western Saudi port city of Jeddah.

A military source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the 12.5-meter-long missile had hit its target accurately and left massive destruction at the airport.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 10,000 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
