Yemeni Army Fires 2 Scud Missiles Against Saudi Targets

The Yemeni army fired two Scud tactical ballistic missiles against Saudi positions on Saturday.

The first ballistic missile fired at a power plant and a water desalination plant in Shakik area in Saudi southwest region of Jizan, the official said.

The other missile hit an industrial area in Saudi’s southern region of Asir, inflicting heavy losses among the Saudi troops.

The artillery units of the Yemeni army also took part in the retaliatory operation, targeting position of Saudi soldiers in military camps inside southern borders of the kingdom.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni army backed by the popular committees continued to make gains on the ground over the past 24 hours.

The allied forces killed dozens of Saudi-backed militants after in al-Ghail district in Jawf province.

Elsewhere, the resistance forces also repelled militiamen in Dhubab district and Raboua area in southwest province of Taiz, killing scores and destroying two vehicles, said a military official.

The army and popular committee also hit Saudi soldiers in Karish area of southern province of Lahj, and fired Katiusha rockets against Saudi positions in Asilan district of Shabwa province.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 10,000 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
