Yemeni Army Seizes US-Made Arms in Marib, Continues to Advance in Najran

The Yemeni army and popular forces discovered an arms depot of pro-Saudi forces in Marib province which contained weapons and ammunition made in the US as the Houthi Ansarullah fighters continued to gain more military grounds in the kingdom’s Najran and Jizan provinces.

The Yemeni forces seized a weapons depot of the Saudi-led forces in Marib province which was packed with the US-made arms and dispatched from Saudi Arabia to the Yemeni province.

The Yemeni army and Ansarullah fighters also seized the military positions of the Saudi army in Najran province.

Score of pro-Saudi forces were killed and wounded in fierce clashes with the Yemeni army and Ansarullah fighters in the region.

On Wednesday, the allied forces repelled an attack by militias loyal to the former fugitive President Mansour Hadi on their military positions in the Western part of Taiz province, inflicting heavy losses on them in a counteroffensive.

The pro-Hadi militaimen attacked the Yemeni military positions in Zobab region in Western Taiz, but they were pushed back by the army and popular forces.

Several militias were killed and wounded in the Yemeni forces’ counteroffensive.

The Yemeni forces also destroyed several armored and military vehicles of the Saudi forces in the army counter-offensive.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 10,000 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
