The U.N. sponsored ceasefire has done little to limit the Saudi Air Force’s indiscriminate airstrikes over Yemen, despite promises made by the Al-Saud regime to halt these attacks against the Houthi Ansarullah revolutionaries and Yemeni Army’s Republican Guard.
The reality is that Saudi Arabia had no intention of letting up their assault against the anti-Hadi forces because it would allow them to become an equal partner at the negotiation table. More importantly, as long as the Houthi forces and Yemeni Army maintain control over the Yemeni capital, exiled president, Abd Rubbah Mansour Hadi, will be forced to rule the country from the port-city of Aden or Saudi Arabia.
However, the Houthi forces are fully aware of Saudi Arabia’s intentions and they do not plan on backing down.
It is now only a matter of time before the ceasefire is completely called off and the violence resumes in Yemen; however, one thing is for sure this time, the Houthi forces will not be fooled by Saudi Arabia’s promises again.
