On Monday evening in the Ta’iz Governorate of western Yemen, the Yemeni Army’s Republican Guard - backed by the Houthi Ansarullah movement and popular committees -has taken full control of Dhubab City in the Dhubab Directorate after a violent battle with the Saudi-led Coalition and Hadi loyalists.

The news from Dhubab comes just 48 hours after the Ansarullah revolutionaries and Yemeni army seized Jabal Shabakah in the Dhubab Directorate from pro-Hadi militias.

On Sunday, military advisors from the 48th Brigade of the Republican Guard completed their tour of the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, further confirming the absence of Saudi-led Coalition forces near Taiz City.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 8,300 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
