Five Yemeni policemen were killed Friday in Aden (south) in an armed attack against their police station, said a security source, who accused Al-Qaeda.

The attack, carried out by "armed and masked men," targeted the police station of al-Bassatine, a northern district of Aden, added the same source. "Five policemen were killed in a clash with the assailants, believed to be members of Al-Qaeda," said the source, indicating that they had managed to flee. The attack occurred after the death of three soldiers in Aden, slaughtered by armed and masked men.

The three soldiers were part of the escort of General Fadl Hassan who commands the air base of Al-Anad, north of Aden.

On Tuesday, at least six people, including four members of one family, were killed in fighting between militants of Al Qaeda and pro-Hadi forces in Aden. These fights had broken out after the outbreak by regime forces, backed by Saudi Arab coalition in command of an operation to dislodge Al-Qaeda elements in a neighborhood they control in Aden, Yemen’s second city.
