The Yemeni army and popular committees took control of key sites in Salab mountains overlooking Jadaan area in Mareb province, a military official said on Wednesday.

The allied forces succeeded to turn around the gatherings of the mercenaries in Salab mountains in Jadaan area and seized al-Haramila village, the official explained.

The invading forces and their hirelings were forced to withdraw from Malah area and some neighboring mountains in Nehm district, he added, pointing out that tens of the mercenaries were killed and others were captured during the military operations.

Yemen has been under airstrikes by Saudi Arabia since March 26 last year. The Saudi strikes have been meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and bring fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, back to power.

Nearly 8,280 people, among them 2,236 children, have reportedly been killed and over 16,000 others injured. The strikes have also taken a heavy toll on the impoverished country’s infrastructure, destroying many hospitals, schools, and factories.
