Saudi Jets Mistakenly Target Allied Forces in Yemen

Saudi warplanes have caused several casualties by mistakenly targeting the Riyadh-allied militants who fight on the side of fugitive former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi in west-central Yemen.

The offensive, which took place in Yemen’s Ma’rib Province on Tuesday, was the second time in the space of a week that Saudi aircraft targeted the allied forces by mistake, Yemen’s official SABA news agency reported.

The previous attack came on Thursday when Saudi warplanes carried out airstrikes on Ma’rib’s provincial capital city of the same name, killing an unknown number of militants loyal to Hadi.

Meanwhile, Saudi aircraft also killed three civilians and injured five other people in attacks against Ta’iz province in southwestern Yemen.

Yemen has been witnessing ceaseless attacks by Saudi Arabia since March.

On March 26, a Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States began carrying out a military aggression by launching airstrikes on Yemen in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to the Hadi, a close ally of Saudi Arabia.

The airstrikes have not been authorized by the United Nations [UN].
