The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) called on Friday to lift the restrictions imposed on basic commodities to arrive to Yemen.

It expressed its deep concern over hindering the humanitarian aid and basic commodities to arrive to Yemen which resulted in worsening the humanitarian situation in the country.
In a statement, the ICRC called for taking all necessary measures to protect citizens and the infrastructure, stressing the need to offer the humanitarian assistance or allowing the humanitarian organization to provide aid to the most affected people from the country’s crisis.

Antoine Grand, the head of the ICRC delegation in Yemen, said about half of the Yemeni hospitals are closed and huge number of injured people are waiting to receive the necessary medical treatment.
Riyadh has repeatedly used cluster bombs against the Yemenis during the past months. On Wednesday, Saudi jets reportedly dropped banned cluster bombs on Sa’ada and killed an unspecified number of civilians.
Some 7,000 people have lost their lives in the airstrikes, and a total of nearly 14,000 people have been injured since late March.

As many as 114,000 others have also been forced to flee the war-stricken country due to the Saudi aggression, according to a UN report earlier this month.
