The Yemeni army on Saturday carried out military operations against sites of Saudi-backed militiamen in Marib province, a military official told Yemen Press Agency.
The militiamen were inflicted heavy casualties during the military offensive which took place near Hailan front of Serwah district.
Saudi Arabia backs Yemen’s resigned Hadi regime and has since March 2015 led a coalition battling the country’s Houthi revolutionaries.
Yemen’s stalemated three-year war has killed over 10,000 people and devastated the country’s infrastructure. The Saudi-led coalition faces widespread international criticism over airstrikes that kill civilians.
