The United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, has left the capital Sana’a on Tuesday.

Griffiths was in the war-torn country meeting with Houthis officials in an attempt to re-launch peace talks.

On Monday, the UN official met with the president of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council.

Both men discussed the dire humanitarian situation in the country due to the Saudi-led military campaign.

They also discussed preparation to re-launch a new peace initiative.
