Tens of thousands of Yemeni people held a protest rally Wednesday in the capital, Sana’a, to condemn the assassination of the President of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council Saleh al-Samad in a recent Saudi airstrike.

The massive demonstration was held after Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement confirmed that Samad and six of his companions had lost their lives in the airstrike on Hodeida last Thursday.
The Saudi-led war began in March 2015 in support of a former Riyadh-friendly Yemeni regime.
The Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights announced in a statement on March 25 that the Saudi-led war had left 600,000 civilians dead and injured until then.
The Saudi-led countries waging war on Yemen have also blockaded the already-impoverished country.
The United Nations (UN) says a record 22.2 million people in Yemen are in need of food aid, including 8.4 million threatened by severe hunger.
