Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that political solution is the final way out of ongoing crises in Yemen and Syria, with the former under foreign military aggression and the latter suffering a proxy civil war by terrorists, as he said in a televised interview on Sunday.

Rouhani made the remarks in a televised interview on Sunday to mark the second anniversary of assuming presidential power in 2014 during which he focused on the government’s economic achievements as well as the success in nuclear negotiations.

On the developments in Yemen and other countries such as Occupied Palestine and Iraq, Rouhani said, "We have principles which are not subject to change. During the [nuclear] talks these principles did not change either".

As Iran maintained its nuclear principles, he added, it will pursue its regional principles while the conditions for maneuvering will be facilitated.

In Yemen, a Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States has been carrying out airstrikes against the country since March. The airstrikes have not been authorized by the UN.

Based on UN figures, over 3,261 people have been killed, 1,670 of whom were civilians in the Saudi onslaught.

Saudi Arabia began its US-led military aggression against Yemen on March 26 - without a United [UN] Nation mandate - in a bid to restore power to the country’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Saudi Arabia, and to undermine Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement which is currently responding to the attacks on the country.
