The UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mark Lowcock, visited the city of Hodeida, inspecting the humanitarian and health situation there.

Yemen’s state-run news agency Saba reported that Lowcock met the Governor of Hodeida Hassan Ahmed Al-Heij on Thursday and discussed with him province’s need in the health, education and trade sectors.

Lowcock also visited Hodeida and Al Thawra General Hospital, one of the largest government hospitals in the province.

The UN official inspected the children and malnutrition section of the hospital and reviewed "the difficulties facing the hospital, most notably the acute shortage of medicines and the ongoing power outage due to the lack of oil derivatives."

The official stressed the continuation of relief work for Yemenis, pointing out that there is “support and mass” on the port of Hodeida, located on the Red Sea coast, west of Yemen, without mentioning the details of this support.
