US Helicopter Crashes Off Southern Coast Of Yemen

US officials said a Blackhawk helicopter has crashed off the southern coast of Yemen while training its crew, ABC News reported.

In a statement issued by US Central Command, officials said one US service member is missing and five others aboard the craft have been rescued.

The crash took place Friday evening. Officials say the accident is under investigation.

American forces are searching for the service member. A search party has already rescued five others who were with him.

It's unknown what caused the crash at this point, and an investigation will be done, CENTCOM stated.

This summer has brought two Navy ship collisions that killed a total of 17 sailors in the Pacific, two Marine Corps aircraft crashes that killed 19 troops, and an Army Black Hawk crash that killed five soldiers.
