The government of Russia and Egypt are interested in an early settlement of the conflict in Yemen. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

"Moscow and Cairo are very interested in the speedy cessation of bloodshed in Yemen and the beginning of an essential, meaningful political process, as well as in immediate steps to alleviate the gravest humanitarian crisis in this country," Lavrov said.

According to reports, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman expressed the desire to end the war in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia has been leading a destructive military campaign against Yemen since March 2015 to reinstate former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and crush the Houthi movement.

The campaign has seriously damaged the country’s infrastructure. Local Yemeni sources have put the death toll from the Saudi war at over 12,000, including many women and children.
