According to reports, more than 5 million Yemeni students of secondary schools enrolled in 2016 took the final school exams.

Yemen suffers from difficult economic and security problems, which affect several sectors in the country, particularly the education.



The illiteracy rate stands at 29.8 per cent for men and 62.1 per cent for women in the country of 24 million people, reports claimed.

According to the UN, "conservative estimates" indicate that over 700 children have been killed and more than 1,000 injured since the Saudi-led aggression began.

The organization also noted that as many as 720 children have been documented as being forcibly removed as child soldiers by the warring parties.

Some 1,170 schools have been closed leaving some 3.4 million minors out of education.
