Freedom House Foundation: 3979 Civilians Killed, 6887 Wounded in Saudi War on Yemen

According to a recent report by the Freedom House Foundation, 3,979 civilians were killed so far (with 571 children being under 15 years old and 249 women) and more than 6,887 others have been wounded in nearly seven weeks of the deadly Saudi aggression on Yemen. 
The Foundation added that thousands of residential buildings have been destroyed and hundreds of civil and public facilities were reduced to rubble as a result of the bombardments by the Saudi warplanes on the Yemeni cities and towns.

The Statistical Report from "Freedom House- Yemen" about the Humanitarian Status in Yemen

 

Summary:

- 3,979 civilian casualties, 571 of them are children below 15 years of age and 249 women

- 6,887 injured, among them 1,106 children below 15 years of age and approximately 775 women

- Bombing 674 populated areas and demolishing 7021 houses, 143 houses destroyed with their inhabitants

- 160,000-170,000 families emigrated from the targeted cities and villages

- Destruction of 931 civil buildings, service utilities and fundamental infrastructures

- 54 hospitals and health institutions, 26 mosques, and 168 educational institutions have
 been targeted including 3 schools which have been destroyed when the students were inside

Important Notes:

1- This report is about civilian casualties and damages from Saudi-led air strikes and clashes between armed militants and Yemeni army and security forces.

2- The armed militants mentioned in this report are: the Houthi group (Ansarullah), President Hadi’s armed groups, and the Al Qaeda armed groups.

3- This report includes all initial statistics from all Yemeni governorates (from March 26th to May 12th, 2015), except Al-Dhaher district in Sa’da, Al Tawahi district in Aden, Haradh district in Hajjah from March 26th to May 7th, 2015 due to the difficulty of communicating with correspondents from these governorates.

4- Last update in this report was at 11:00 pm local time, 08:00 pm GMT on Tuesday, May 12th, 2015.

5- This report is statistically collected by the report team of "Freedom House Yemen".

The Report in Details

 

I. Community Areas:

- The total civilian inhabited areas hit by air, sea and surface strikes were 674 units; 538 were hit by the Saudi-led alliance missiles from air and sea strikes; 153 residential areas were hit by missiles from ground clashes.

- There have been clashes between armed militias from one side and the Yemeni army and security forces from the other side at the following Governorates:

 

• The Capital city: 156 residential areas
• Sana’a governorate: 39 residential areas
• Ad Dhale’e governorate: 19 residential areas (12 hit by air strikes, 7 were by ground clashes)
• Taiz Governorate: 65 residential areas (43 hit by air strikes and 22 were by ground clashes)
• Al Hudaydah Governorate: 42 residential areas.
• Lahij Governorate: 11 residential areas (10 hit by air strikes, 5 were by ground clashes)...(some residential areas were hit by both air strikes and ground clashes)
• Hajjah Governorate: 17 residential areas + UN Refugee Camp + Abbs central prison.
• Al Mahweet Governorate: 4 residential areas
• Sa’dah Governorate: 149 residential areas
• Shabwah Governorate : 18 residential areas ( 8 hit by air strikes and 10 were by ground clashes)
• Dhamar Governorate: 11 residential areas
• Ibb Governorate: 17 residential areas
• Ma’rib Governorate: 21 residential areas (9 hit by air strikes and 12 were by ground clashes)
