The Yemeni army and popular committees seized control over several strategic positions of the Saudi army in Jizan province in the Southern part of the kingdom.

"Saudi Arabia’s strategic positions in Jizan region came under the Yemeni forces’ control after fierce clashes," Senior Ansarullah Commander Majed al-Zeidi told FNA on Tuesday.

Al-Zeidi said that the Yemeni forces attacked the Saudi army’s biggest military base in Jizan with Katyusha rockets.

Meantime, another senior Ansarullah commander announced that heavy clashes are underway between the Yemeni army and Saudi-backed terrorists in Taiiz province.

"The Yemeni forces have taken control of the Southern and Eastern parts of Taiz," Hossein al-Houthi told FNA on Tuesday.

The Yemeni attacks came in response to Saudi Arabia’s continued air raids on the civilian population across the impoverished nation.

The Saudi fighter jets hit more than 11 times the Yemeni people’s houses in Sarawah region.

The residential areas in Sa’ada and Hajjah also came under the Saudi air raids.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 10,000 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
