The oil company in Hadi’s government said that it would raise the price of gasoline from 280 to 310 riyals per litre (6,200 riyals per 20 liter) in the southern port city of Aden.
It referred to the addition of a lump sum to the price for commission and transport fees for station agents in accordance with geographical distance.
According to Yemen News Portal (YNP), The company justified its decision to raise the prices of derivatives globally and the decline of the rial against the dollar.
In the midst of citizens’ concern in Aden about the rise in the price of oil derivatives, another more severe problem arises: the lack of water and the hardship sought by the people of Aden to find ways to find water.
Media sources said that the residents of Aden are living in a bad situation due to lack of drinking water for days and confirmed that the interruption of drinking water in Aden was caused by the uprooting of the most important artesian feeding the residents of the city in the area of Crater.
The situation is worsening as hopes for energy production dwindle within two days, leading to the displacement of people from the city or the residents might die of thirst, the sources said.
This comes under two bodies ( Hadi’s government and the UAE-backed Southern transitional council) that have done nothing to save the city.
This raises many question marks about who is the beneficiary and responsible for strangling Aden in this successive way in the most important arteries of life (oil and water).
The sources from Aden said access to water had become heavy, causing a number of additional problems at the family and individual level and had affected various forms of public life.
They pointed to the rise in the price of water truck service to between 15,000 and 20,000 riyals in conjunction with the deteriorating economic and living conditions of the citizens of the city.
According to local residents, most citizens in Aden have become unable to buy ” water truck service” due to the financial crisis and deteriorating economic conditions in light of the salary cuts.
