Protesters cut off main roads in Aden

Protests intensified on Tuesday as the water crisis continued in the southern port city of Aden, local sources said. The protests began on Monday.

Angry  protesters have cut off major and secondary roads in the city due to lack of water.

In return, the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council(STC)’s  arrested the director of the Water Foundation Fathi Al-Saqqaf amid reports that he was going to stand trial.

Al-Saqqaf appeared in a video showing the cause of the water outage, in which he said was due to the power cuts to the facility.

According to the observers,  al-Saqqaf’s arrest an attempt by the STC to control the protests. This comes as the new governor of Aden in the coalition-backed government sworn in .
