The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias on Monday cordoned off the central bank of Aden the southern port city, in an indication of the STC’s rejections of  Saudi Arabia’s vision for formation of government, media outlets reported.

According to the Yemen News Portal, the UAE-backed troops and armored vehicles belonging to the storm forces led by Osan al-A’anshali were deployed in the vicinity of the bank from Al-Habishi square amid tension souring with the security guards of the bank loyal to the Saudi occupation forces.

Sources in the STC said that the move to surround the bank comes as part of arrangements to control the rest of the state institutions in Aden and the southern provinces as a rejection of the government formation offered by Saudi Arabia, which allocates only four portfolios out of 24 portfolios.

The bank’s siege is part of an escalation of the STC against Saudi Arabia, which began in recent days with demonstrations in front of the gate of the Saudi forces camp in Aden, followed by a military parade in the face of the expulsion of Saudi troops.
