Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha al-Mutawakkil emphasized that the health sector in Yemen is one of the civil sectors most affected by the Saudi-led aggression and blockade.

“We are facing a massacre carried out by the [Saudi-led coalition] aggression against the Yemeni children, and at least 1,000 children die every day,” al-Mutawakkil said in a press conference held in the capital Sana’a, adding that the child mortality rate in the country exceeded 400,000 every year.

The Yemeni minister underlined that more than 600 health facilities have been targeted by the coalition, calling it a “war crime whose perpetrators must be punished.”

Al-Mutawakkil also called for the urgent opening of Sanaa airport so that patients can travel for treatment, stressing that "the world must stand firm … in the face of the annihilation war the aggression is launching against the children of Yemen."
