Yemeni health ministry announced on Sunday that 30,000 Yemenis have been killed due to Sanaa airport closure.

In an interview with Yemen’s Al-Massirah TV channel, Youssef al-Haderi, the ministry spokesman, slammed the United Nations for not offering the needed urgent medical aids.

He also criticized the international body for abandoning its role in mediation in a bid to secure the evacuation of Yemeni injured and sick people.

“What will happen if the UN cooperated in order to evacuate the injured and sick people from Yemen to other countries which have already offered help in this regard?” al-Haderi said, noting that there are 300,000 Yemenis who are in need to be evacuated now.

In this context, the ministry spokesman called on the UN to shoulder the responsibility in ensuring the needed medical aids and equipment.

Earlier on Saturday, the ministry said that 92% to 95% of medical equipment in hospitals and medical centers across Yemen are out of date, according to survey conducted by the ministry at the end of 2018.
