Angry demonstrators burned the United Arab Emirates’ flag on a street in the city of Aden.

The city is witnessing widespread protests denouncing abuses by pro-Emirati militias.

Anti-UAE protests have been ongoing for the fifth consecutive day in the wake of the killing of a young man, Raafat Demba.

Demba was killed by gunmen belonging to the so-called anti-terrorism forces backed by the United Arab Emirates. He was a witness to the rape of a child in Maala.

The demonstrators held the Emirati occupation forces responsible for the chaos in the city and for supporting armed factions that are killing and looting.

They also denounced the Saudi-US alliance’s policy in the southern provinces, demanding the UAE and Saudi forces to leave Aden.

In June 2018, an Associated Press investigation found that the Emirati military officers ran a prison in southern Yemen, where they tortured detainees, including with acts of sexual abuse.

A report later revealed the existence of a network of 27 such sites, used to imprison and torture Yemeni opponents of the UAE.

The report alleged that 49 people had died as a result of the torture they had undergone at the sites.
