President of Yemen Mahdi al-Mashat has congratulated the people of Yemen on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the September 21 Revolution.

President al-Mashat praised the people and the armed forces of Yemen for the successful revolutionary record and the heroism that the people have displayed. In his speech, the President also commemorated two prior revolutionary struggles in which Yemen liberated itself from the shackles of the past: the September 26 Revolution (in which then North Yemen overthrew the monarchy and established the Yemen Arab Republic in 1962) and the October 14 Revolution (in which the British colony of Aden rose up in 1963, eventually becoming independent as the Democratic People’s Republic of Yemen).

The President stressed that the main goal of the US-Saudi led military invasion of Yemen is the destruction of its revolutions, and that the destruction of the country’s economy and civil infrastructure is part of this plot.

Mahdi al-Mashat furthermore stated that the September 21 Revolution of 2014 gave every Yemeni a new opportunity to participate in the construction of the fatherland, and called on the people to continue their brave and steadfast mobilisation in order to support the Armed Forces and Popular Committees in the defence of Yemen.

On 21 September 2014, the people of Yemen overthrew the regime of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi and replaced it with a revolutionary republican system that ever since then has been defending itself from a bloody Saudi-led invasion.
