Saudi Forces, Mercenaries Suffer Major Losses in Jizan, Yemen

Yemen’s army shelled the positions of Saudi troops in the kingdom's southwestern Jizan region in retaliation for Riyadh’s relentless military aggression against the impoverished Arab country.

The gathering centers of the Saudi soldiers in the districts of Qamer, Maqrin and Ajasher were pounded on Saturday, Yemen’s official Saba news agency reported.

Dozens of the kingdom’s troopers were killed in the attack.

In addition, a Yemeni guided missile targeted a Saudi tank in Randha area in Jizan and destroyed it.

In Taiz province, dozens of mercenaries were killed and injured when the army and committees carried out two offensive operations from two sides on the mercenaries’ sites in western coast front.

In Osaifirah district of Taiz, an infiltration attempt was foiled toward the army and popular forces’ site, killing and wounding dozens, while artillery shelling targeted mercenaries’ gatherings and fortifications in the same district.

In a separate development, the Yemeni forces claimed the lives of several Saudi-backed mercenaries in the southwestern province of Taiz.

Also, the mercenaries’ gatherings were targeted in the western province of Hajjah

In Hajjah province, mercenaries’ gatherings were targeted in Midi Desert in the northwestern Hajjah province with mortar rounds.

The districts of Qubaida and Serwah were also hit by Yemeni rockets in the provinces of Lahij ad Ma’rib, respectively.

Since March 25, 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Yemen’s Legal Center of Rights and Development has recently announced that the Saudi campaign has claimed the lives of over 12,040 Yemenis and left more than 20,000 others wounded.
